By sourcing its raw cashmere exclusively from Outer Mongolia, GOBI Cashmere is able to ensure that its products are of the highest quality and free from any impurities or harmful chemicals. The production process at GOBI can be broken down into the following steps:
Sourcing: GOBI Cashmere sources the finest cashmere fibers from Mongolian herders who ensure their goats are well-cared for and ethically treated. The fibers are sustainably sourced to minimize environmental impact.
Sorting, washing, and de-hairing: The fibers are then sorted by their 4 natural colors of cashmere, their width, and quality. Then they are washed and de-haired to remove any impurities and to ensure that only the softest and finest fibers are used.
Dyeing: The sorted fibers are dyed using natural dyes whenever possible, including plant extracts and minerals, and modern dyeing techniques, including computerized dyeing machines, to ensure consistent and accurate colors.
Spinning: The dyed fibers are then spun into yarn using traditional and modern techniques to create a strong and durable yarn that will stand the test of time.
Weaving or Knitting: The yarn is then woven or knitted using state-of-the-art machines, including twill, jersey, and herringbone weaves, as well as cable and rib knits. GOBI Cashmere also processes woven fabrics to create a wider variety of fabrics for its products.
Cutting and Sewing: The finished woven fabric is processed, then cut and sewn into products such as coats, blazers, and other garments. GOBI Cashmere pays meticulous attention to detail during this process to ensure the highest quality finished product.
Finishing: Once the products are knitted, woven and sewn together, they undergo a range of treatments, including washing, steaming, and pressing, to create a smooth and luxurious finish.
