Mongolians have been nomads for many centuries, settling in small numbers in remote areas with plentiful grassland for livestock. This would mean that they would often live several kilometers away from other families. Hence, when they do get a rare visitor, especially one visiting from faraway lands, they would offer the best of everything they had just to show their appreciation for taking the time and traveling a long distance across Mongolia’s vast lands to come visit them.
Having guests is always a joyful occasion for Mongolians, for they bring news from far-away places and interesting stories about their journeys. It is an unwritten rule for nomads to treat their guests well with the utmost hospitality and to make them feel at home, however little the hosts may have to offer. Whether the guest is an old friend or an uninvited stranger, there is no room for discrimination in the nomads’ hearts. This generosity is, without doubt, the heart of the
Mongolian culture.
With our deep-rooted traditions in our hearts, we present to you, our esteemed guests from faraway lands, our Holiday Gifting Guide.
