Why World Water Day Matters

Each year, World Water Day focuses on a specific theme to address urgent global challenges. The 2025 theme, “Glacier Preservation,” highlights the role of glaciers as vital freshwater sources and the growing risks posed by climate change.

According to the United Nations, protecting water resources requires not only global awareness but also responsible action from industries—particularly those with high water consumption. This is where meaningful change begins.

While the company has long operated its own wastewater treatment facility, a major step forward was taken in 2024 through a comprehensive renewal and upgrade of both the treatment system and the facility infrastructure.

This initiative reflects a clear principle: true sustainability requires continuous improvement, not one-time solutions. Rather than building from scratch, GOBI chose to modernize and elevate its existing wastewater treatment plant—upgrading the entire system to meet evolving environmental standards and operational needs.

The project includes:

The renewed facility represents a new generation of industrial water management within the cashmere industry.

Beyond Water: A Holistic Sustainability Approach

This initiative builds on GOBI’s broader sustainability efforts, including its Organic Collection, which uses the natural colors of Mongolian cashmere without chemical dyes.

By eliminating dyeing processes, the collection has already achieved the following:

88.75% water savings
74.9% reduction in chemical use
21.75% reduction in CO₂ emissions

Together, these efforts demonstrate a fully integrated approach—from raw material to final product.
