The project is scheduled to continue until the end of 2025. Throughout this duration, we are actively engaged in establishing a robust framework for cashmere goats herds in Bayankhongor and Khuvsgul provinces. Our aim is to facilitate the direct purchase of cashmere from herders at market prices, eliminating unnecessary intermediaries in the process.

Collaborating with Mongolian herders and the increase of their income

Since 2023, Gobi JSC initiated the purchase raw materials from the herders involved in the project at premium rates, thereby substantially enhancing their financial returns

Winter Preparedness and Animal Health

Each year, a regimen of sterilization, disinfection, and vaccination is diligently administered to ensure the well-being of the goats involved in the project.

Additionally, essential grass and fodder are supplied to assist them in preparing for the winter season. This proactive approach underscores our commitment to maintaining the health and welfare of the goats throughout the project.

Cashmere Goats

Raw Cashmere
 - Annually, cashmere samples from the goats of herders in the project are gathered and subjected to lab-based quality evaluations. The results are transparently shared with partners for review and discussion.

Best Practices for Cashmere goats
 - Experts and educators from the Mongolian University of Life Sciences lead an annual training for herders in the project on key areas including goat care, breeding, and cashmere preparation.

  Our focus is on creating products with a clear traceability path, starting from the procurement of raw materials all the way to delivering them to our valued consumers.

Project updates are provided in quarterly "ESG" reports and detailed in "Sustainable Development" reports. All information is available on the company's website and online network, ensuring transparency for stakeholders and the public.

In July 2021, GOBI Cashmere's cashmere yarns earned the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification. In February 2024, we achieved another major milestone by becoming the first Mongolian company to receive the same certification for finished garments. This certification ensures that all certified GOBI products — including garments and accessories — are free from harmful substances, safe for human use, and gentle on the skin, guaranteeing quality and safety at every stage of production. By continuously expanding and renewing our certified product range, GOBI leads the way in sustainable cashmere production, proudly showcasing Mongolian craftsmanship, innovation, and responsibility in every thread.

The system ensures that all processes–from raw material sourcing to final product–follow rigorous quality, environmental, and ethical requirements. Since 2021, GOBI Cashmere has proudly held the SFA Clean Fibre Processing Gold Level Certification, recognizing our leadership in sustainable cashmere production and responsible manufacturing. This achievement reflects our commitment to producing cashmere that is luxurious, ethical, and environmentally conscious. The Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) is a global non-profit organization that promotes responsible practices across the fibre supply chain. The Clean Fibre Processing Standard ensures that first-stage facilities wash and dehair raw cashmere while meeting the highest environmental, social, and chemical safety standards. At GOBI, we uphold these standards — blending Mongolian tradition, modern innovation, and sustainable excellence in every piece of cashmere.
